Passport photo-taking tips
Follow these guidelines to create the perfect passport picture.
Consider the distance
Keep your front-facing camera 16–20 inch (40–50 cm) away from the face. For rear cameras, keep a 4–6 foot (1–2 meter) distance.
Keep your head and body straight
Look directly into the camera and avoid tilting your body. Remember, portrait mode is unacceptable for passport photos.
Prepare good lighting
Take your passport photos in a daylight setting, like near a window on a sunny day. Shadows on your face or in the background are not permitted.

Your Tinder Profile Photo
Do you use or have you used Tinder and for some unknown reason you don't match? Keep on reading and we guarantee you will get more likes, super likes and connect with people much more compatible with you.
One of the things you should take care of in your Tinder profile is your photo. Why? The photo is your cover letter and the first thing that everyone will notice. No matter how crack you are at writing or how good your description is, in the end we all enter by sight. First impressions are what count here. You only get one chance. In a matter of seconds you have to impress your candidates.
10 Tips on how to create the perfect Tinder profile picture
You don't need to be a photographer, or spend a lot of money buying a professional camera to get good profile pictures. You just need to follow these tips and use our app ;) to make your profile pictures on Tinder the envy of all your friends.
Pay attention to the quality of your photos
As we said, you don't need to take the photos with a professional camera. If you have one or if you have someone who offers to do a session with you, it's even better. But if not, you can also get good results with your cell phone. A quality photo can say a lot about a person; that they are detail oriented, that they care about their image, that they take care of the details…
Look nice and dress well
It is true that men are more attracted to bright colors like red and women are more attracted to colors like blue, but the important thing is to be as natural as possible. Dress well but always be yourself.
Avoid going out with sunglasses, caps or hats, this can give the impression that you are hiding something and we don't want that. Your face has to be seen in its entirety.
Showing off or going out half naked won't do you much good either. Most guys and girls will go for natural rather than artificial.
And if you think it's necessary, use a bit of makeup, it will also help and the final result of the photos will be much better.
Ask someone to help you
If possible, have a friend take the pictures and you just pose. And if it's not possible, don't worry, nowadays all cell phones and cameras have a timer. You can also use tripods for cell phones, if you got one, which you can take the photo by yourself.
We are not very fond of selfies. Think that you are holding the phone with only one hand, the photo may come out blurry, the angle may not be the best and you may not even come out in one piece.
Take care of poses and gestures
Poses and attitude are very important, as they can convey a lot in the photo. The key is to be relaxed and enjoy the photos you are taking. Try to be relaxed, make it fun and you will see how everything flows more naturally.
Smiling can get you a lot of likes. Think that smiling is one of the emotions that transmit the most in a photo. Try to smile in the photo but don't overdo it. If you can't get a smile, then don't force it. Forced smiles don't work either and on many occasions a small grimace without showing your teeth can also work very well.
Another important point is that if you are not a model, don't pretend to be one. Nothing worse than faking a pose you don't know how to do.
Better show off alone in your Tinder profile photo
Discard the photos in which you are accompanied. Do not take pictures with your brother or sister, nor with your car, nor with your dog and even less with a friend. And above all, what can be fatal for you is to be in the photo with handsome friends. Not only will you leave a lot to be desired, but this can also make the person viewing your profile more interested in your friend than in you.
Beware of lighting
Light in any photo is key. Whenever possible take photos outdoors or in a place where you have very good natural light. Photos with low light lose quality and also do not transmit as well as well-lit photos with lots of light. One of the keys is to avoid being against the light, always have the light facing you or from the side. If, for example, you take the photos indoors, you can take advantage of a window with light. Try to make sure that the light always comes either facing you or from the side, never against the light.
If you are going to take photos outdoors, take them during the last hours of the day, when the sun is almost setting. This moment is known as "the magic hour" precisely for that reason, because you will get tones and colors in your photos that will blow your mind. The light at sunset is softer and the colors are warmer which will give more closeness to your photos.
Don't overdo it with filters or retouching
From our point of view filters are either used very well or they make a photo lose or ruin it completely. As most of us are not professional photographers, the best thing to do is not to use filters if you retouch your photos, either on your cell phone or on your computer. Again we insist on the more naturalness you transmit the better.
The same goes for retouching. If you overdo it or don't do it right, it will show that your photo is retouched and that is even worse than leaving the photo as it is.
Be and show yourself as you really are
Everything we mentioned before is important and will help you to improve your photos in an incredible way. But it's useless if you don't show yourself in them as you are. You can't be cool and pretend to be a supermodel if you are not.
Obviously the physique is almost always the first thing we all look at, but more important for both guys and girls is that the photos look natural.
Find a good place to take pictures
Always look for a good background for your photos. If possible, make sure it is an outdoor location, where you will get better light. Try not to have anyone or anything behind you that could distract or spoil the photo.
It may seem silly, but things change a lot if instead of taking your Tinder profile picture in your room, you do it on a beach, a mountain or a garden.

Things to bear in mind while using our Tinder Profile Picture Editor
Now you know how easy it is to make out of your picture the best one to show on your Tinder profile, but bear in mind these advices:
- Be sure that the background you choose fits the image of yourself. Remember that Tinder is a dating app. Don’t post pictures of yourself with an office background, as that would not attract anyone’s attention. It is better if you create different profile pictures in different well-known places. Then, when you match your right soulmate, they won’t be bored by all the stories you got to tell them ;).
- Pay attention to the lightning. If the main photo is darker than the background, that would look completely unnatural and would result in an UNmatch. Is that why you are on Tinder?
- Have an eye for detail. PhotoAiD App also includes a cropping editor, so you can adjust your picture easily to look natural and in harmony with the background.
- Crop the picture to the right size. The perfect size for the Tinder profile picture is 640x640 pixels, however Tinder changes this once your photo is uploaded. To avoid losing a lot of the quality of your Tinder profile picture, try to reduce the size of it before submitting it.
Now that you know what makes a Tinder profile picture stand out from the rest, it is time to give it a try to PhotoAiD and smash it with the matches! Just don’t forget to write a review letting us know if you found the perfect match ;).
