Pro tip: If you want to get a baby passport photo, you need to look elsewhere. Passport office guidelines are clear: You’re not allowed to hold your baby, as you’d have to when using passport photo booths. Instead, take your child’s picture comfortably at home with PhotoAiD®!
Digital photo for online applications
Great Britain is one of the countries that allow online passport applications. This option is not only cheaper (you’ll pay £10.50 less) but also more convenient—and all you need is a digital passport photo!
With Tesco’s photo kiosk, you get not only a set of printed photos but also a digital image (that you can transfer to a USB drive or send to your email address) and a photo code you can enter into the online application form.
Locating a Tesco photo booth
If you prefer getting your photos taken traditionally, check Tesco’s online store locator to see if there’s a nearby store with a passport photo booth available. With over 4,000 stores (as of 2023), there’s a chance you have one in your neighbourhood.
Can’t find a convenient location? We’ve got you covered! Download our PhotoAiD® app for iOS or PhotoAiD® app for Android and take your own passport photos in a few taps. See how simple the process is:
Printing passport photos at Tesco (for £0.60)
For traditional applications by mail (which are still available), you’ll need two printed passport photos. Naturally, you’ll get them when taking photos at a Tesco photo booth. But it’s not your only option.
Here’s how to print passport photos at Tesco for £0.60:
- Get a passport photo template with our professional ID photo service.
- Go to Tesco’s online print shop.
- Select “6’’ x 4’’ Print” and click on “Personalise.” Follow the instructions.
- Proceed to checkout and choose the “Click & Collect” option.
- Enter your location and find the nearest pickup spot. Your photos should be ready within 20 minutes of placing the order.
Pro tip: Pay attention to the shop details when choosing the pickup location. Some Tesco stores have only self-service photo kiosks where you need to enter the order number for your photos to be printed on the spot.

The app was easy to use and quick to…
The app was easy to use and quick to deliver. My first photo had a few issues with the finish on the colour but once I emailed customer support they were able to resolve the issue for me in a timely manner. I got my photos within three days which was amazingly quick in my eyes. It was also approved by the passport office and I was able to renew my passport on time. Thank you again PhotoAiD.

Passport photo-taking tips
Follow these guidelines to create the perfect passport picture.
Consider the distance
Keep your front-facing camera 16–20 inch (40–50 cm) away from the face. For rear cameras, keep a 4–6 foot (1–2 meter) distance.
Keep your head and body straight
Look directly into the camera and avoid tilting your body. Remember, portrait mode is unacceptable for passport photos.
Prepare good lighting
Take your passport photos in a daylight setting, like near a window on a sunny day. Shadows on your face or in the background are not permitted.
